Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematics Education

The Postgraduate Diploma in Science/Mathematics Education is designed to improve the professional practice of science, mathematics and technology educators at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Successful completion of this course provides direct entry into the Master’s degree course and, in some instances, direct entry into a doctoral degree. In several Australian states, the Postgraduate Diploma is recognised as four–year trained status for primary teachers.

This program of coursework covers:

The diploma consists of a wide choice of coursework units in science, mathematics and technology education, plus a minor project related to the student’s own situation.

The Program and Recognition of Prior Learning

The Postgraduate Diploma in Science/Mathematics Education requires successful completion of eight units (200 credits) usually including two project units and elective units. However, many students in the Postgraduate Diploma program are eligible for up to 4 units (100 credits) exemptions based on professional experience.
