Master of Philosophy By Coursework[Handbook Course Entry]

The Master of Philosopy (Science Education) and Master of Philosophy (Mathematics Education) by coursework consist of coursework units in science, mathematics or technology education plus a minor project in an area relevant to the student's own teaching situation. The coursework degree is designed to provide a strong background in learning theory/curriculum development/supervision and enables further study of science/mathematics/technology content, educational administration and other aspects of education.

The Program and Recognition of Prior Learning

The award of the Master of Science (Science Education) or Master of Science (Mathematics Education) by coursework requires successful completion of eight units (200 credit points) including the two project units and elective units. The Centre's MSc Course Coordinator will advise on an appropriate mix of units depending on each student's needs and circumstances. Applications for advanced standing are assessed on an individual basis. Many students in the coursework MSc are eligible for up to two units (50 credits) exemptions from coursework based on professional experience.
